The hand-cut collages of artist Stephen Eichhorn are at once beautiful and bizarre. Eichhorn, who has been making art since he was a toddler, has a knack for collecting found imagery into elegant and whimsical compositions.
Eichhorn can spend up to eight-hours a day painstakingly cutting paper components with his x-acto knife. It can take anywhere from a few days to several months to collect enough material for one composition.
The cat collages began as a joke in 2009, Eichhorn said, a project he worked on in-between more serious work. The collection, made from photographs from cat books - both new and vintage - combined with images of houseplants, is featured on Eichhorn's Tumblr Plants and Animals.
